Traditional Usucha (Thin Matcha) Preparation
For a light refreshing, traditional experience.
Ingredients:
- 2g (1 tsp) Chajin Okimidori Ceremonial Matcha
- 70ml (2.4 oz) hot water (80°C / 175°F)
Instructions:
- Add Matcha to Chawan – Add 2g of Okimidori Matcha into a chawan(matcha bowl).
- Add Water – Heat fresh, filtered water to 80°C (175°F) and pour 70ml into the bowl.
- Whisk to Perfection – Using a chasen (bamboo whisk), whisk the matcha briskly in an “M” or “W” motion until a fine, frothy layer appears.
- Enjoy Mindfully – Sip slowly and appreciate the rich umami, smooth sweetness, and gentle nutiiness of Okimidori Matcha.
Traditional Koicha (Thick Matcha) Preparation
For a more rich, traditional experience.
Ingredients:
- 4g (2 tsp) Chajin Okimidori Ceremonial Matcha
- 40ml (1.4 oz) hot water (80°C / 175°F)
Instructions:
- Add Matcha to Chawan – Add 4g of Okimidori Matcha into a chawan(matcha bowl).
- Add Water – Pour 40ml of warm water over the matcha.
- Gently Mix – Instead of whisking vigorously, use the chasen to knead the matcha into a thick, velvety consistency.
- Savor Slowly – Enjoy the deep, umami-rich flavor in small, deliberate sips.
Iced Matcha Latte
Ingredients:
- 4g (2 tsp) Chajin Okimidori Ceremonial Matcha
- 70ml (2.4 oz) cold water
- 120ml (4 oz) cold milk (almond, oat, or dairy)
- Ice cubes
- Optional: 1 tsp honey or maple syrup
Instructions:
- Weigh Matcha & Whisk – Follow the same steps for preparing Usucha, using 70ml of cold water and 4g of Matcha.
- Fill Glass with Ice – Add ice cubes to a tall glass.
- Pour Milk Over Ice – Slowly pour in cold milk with sweetener of choice. the whisked matcha over the ice.
- Add Matcha – Pour in frothed matcha over cold milk and stir gently.
- Enjoy – Relish the refreshing balance of sweet, umami-rich matcha and creamy, chilled milk.
